Meet the preceptors
Acute Care Preceptors
Dr. Jodie Ashleman is the Information Technology Pharmacist at University Health. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy at the University of Missouri at Kansas City, completed a Master’s in Business Administration at MidAmerica Nazarene University, and completed a Doctor of Pharmacy at the University of Kansas. She has achieved the designation of Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist and Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems.
Dr. Ashleman’s professional areas of interest include healthcare informatics, automation, and oncology. She has held a variety of roles within the pharmacy department over her 30 plus years at UH. She has been actively involved in many Cerner and IT projects and has work presented at Cerner Health Conference several times. She has assisted other hospitals in improving their Cerner systems. She offers clinical experience rotations for pharmacy students and pharmacy residents to develop skills related to pharmacy informatics.
Dr. Blake Baumann is one of the Clinical Lead Pharmacists in Internal Medicine at University Health Truman Medical Center. He earned a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy and completed PGY1 residency training at Saint Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City. He has achieved the designation of Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist and Board Certified Ambulatory Care Pharmacist.
Dr. Baumann’s professional areas of interest include chronic disease state management, working closely with case managers and social workers to alleviate barriers to obtain medications after discharge, and precepting students. Within UH, Dr. Baumann is a member of the readmission reduction team and falls committee.
Dr. Erin Boswell is the Director of Pharmacy - Acute Care, UHTMC. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Microbiology and her Doctorate of Pharmacy from the University of Kansas. Dr. Boswell completed a PGY1 Pharmacy Practice and a PGY2 Health System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership Residency at Saint Luke's Hospital in Kansas City. Prior to pharmacy school, Dr. Boswell worked as an implementation consultant at Cerner Corporation. She is a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist and has served in numerous leadership positions through the American Society of Health System Pharmacy and the Kansas Council of Health System Pharmacy.
Dr. Boswell’s areas of interest include healthcare policy, inpatient pharmacy operations, supply chain management, and leadership development.
Dr. Lauren Chambers is the Clinical Lead Pharmacist for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Dr. Chambers earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from South Dakota State University and completed her PGY1 residency training at Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins, CO. She then completed a PGY2 residency in pediatrics at Children’s Hospital Colorado focusing on critical care. Prior to coming to University Health, Dr. Chambers worked at Seattle Children’s Hospital as an ICU Clinical Pharmacist and has achieved the designation of Board Certified Critical Care Pharmacist.
Dr. Chambers’ professional areas of interest include therapeutic drug monitoring, pain and sedation, and introducing learners to pediatric pharmacy.
Dr. Taylor Conklin is the Pharmacy Operations Manager at University Health. Dr. Conklin earned a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Pharmacy and completed his PGY-1 residency training at Northwestern Medicine in Chicago, IL. He has achieved the designation of Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist.
Dr. Conklin’s professional area of interest include antimicrobial stewardship, inpatient operations, behavioral economics, and leadership development.
Dr. Alexis Cornelio is one of the Clinical Lead Pharmacists in Central Pharmacy at University Health. She is one of the preceptors for the staffing learning experience for the PGY1 and PGY2 residency programs. Dr. Cornelio earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She completed her PGY1 residency at St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington.
Dr. Cornelio’s interest areas include central operations, sepsis, internal medicine, and precepting students and residents. Within the institution, Dr. Cornelio serves as the Vice Chair for workflow improvement.
Dr. Teri Fanizza is one of the Clinical Lead Pharmacists for Internal Medicine Pharmacists at University Health Truman Medical Center and also serves as one of the Pharmacy Residency Coordinators. Dr. Fanizza earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of North Carolina Eshelman School of Pharmacy and completed her PGY1 residency training at St. Louis College of Pharmacy and Mercy Hospital in St. Louis. She achieved the designation of Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist.
Dr. Fanizza’s professional areas of interest include internal medicine, precepting, and pharmacy practice advancement. Dr. Fanizza has served on multiple committees at UH including workflow improvement, employee engagement, vancomycin peer review group, and pharmacy residency research oversight committee.
Dr. Jeremy Hampton is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Pharmacy and an Emergency Medicine Clinical Specialist for University Health. He earned a BS in Biology at Rockhurst University in Kansas City and his Pharm.D. at UMKC. Following graduation, Dr. Hampton completed his post-graduate residency training at Duke University. He achieved the designation of Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist.
Dr. Hampton has a strong interest in rapid sequence intubation, the management of angioedema, and he is known to be a lover of all things ketamine. He has been a member of the ASHP Emergency Medicine Section Advisory Group and the ACCP Emergency Medicine Practice Research Network, and he is active at the state level serving in roles such as the president of the Missouri Society of Health-System Pharmacists.
Dr. Abby Hughes is the Clinical Lead Pharmacist in Critical Care at University Health and the Residency Program Director for the PGY2 Critical Care Residency. Dr. Hughes earned a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy and completed her PGY1 residency training at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi. Her PGY2 Critical Care residency was completed in Las Vegas, Nevada at The University Medical Center of Southern Nevada. She has achieved the designation of Board Certified Critical Care Pharmacist.
Dr. Hughes’s professional areas of interest include acute respiratory distress syndrome, sepsis and the education of many different learners including students, pharmacists, and other medical professionals.
Dr. Shannon Jones is one of the Clinical Lead Pharmacists in Internal Medicine as well as the longitudinal research preceptor at University Health Truman Medical Center. Dr. Jones earned a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and completed her PGY1 residency training at the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy (formerly known as the St. Louis College of Pharmacy) in collaboration with Mercy Hospital St. Louis. She then completed PGY2 Internal Medicine residency in Salt Lake City, Utah at the University of Utah. She has achieved the designation of Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist.
Dr. Jones’s professional areas of interests include internal medicine, medication safety, professional development, and serving as a preceptor for students and residents. Within the institution, Dr. Jones is an active member of the employee engagement and workflow improvement committees.
Dr. Emily Iglar is the Pharmacy Clinical Manager and PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program Director at University Health - Truman Medical Center. She completed her Doctor of Pharmacy degree at the University of Wisconsin – Madison School of Pharmacy. Dr. Iglar went on to complete her PGY1 pharmacy practice residency at Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin – Froedtert Hospital. She also is a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist.
Dr. Iglar’s professional areas of interest include anticoagulation, transitions of care, and professional development. She is co-chair of the TMC Corporate Pain Management Committee and a member of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.
Dr. Patrick Kelley is the Clinical Lead Pharmacist for Psychiatry at University Health. Dr. Kelley earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University College of Pharmacy and completed his PGY1 residency training at Saint Luke’s Health System in Kansas City. Prior to coming to Truman Medical Center, Dr. Kelley worked at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, MO where he achieved the designation of a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist.
Dr. Kelley was the primary internal medicine and antibiotic stewardship preceptor for the PGY1 program at Mercy. New to UH in 2019, Dr. Kelley brings a passion for teaching and maintains significant interest in all areas of pharmacy in addition to his primary practice site of behavioral health.
Dr. Katie Kummer is one of the Clinical Lead Pharmacists in Internal Medicine at University Health Truman Medical Center. Dr. Kummer earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Pharmacy and completed her PGY1 residency training at University Health Truman Medical Center. She then completed a PGY2 Internal Medicine residency at the University of Arizona/Banner University Medical Center Tucson.

Dr. Nhi Nguyen is a Clinical Lead Pharmacist for the Trauma and Surgical ICU service at University Health Truman Medical Center. She earned her doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Missouri – Kansas City and completed her PGY1 and PGY2 residency training in Critical Care at University Health. She has achieved the designation of Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist.
Dr. Lowe’s professional interests include ROTEM-guided resuscitation, management of traumatic brain injury, and supporting research and development within the department. Within the institution, Dr. Lowe is an active member of the Critical Care Committee and Trauma Quality Improvement Meetings.
Dr. Jennifer McKenna received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center and completed a PGY1 Pharmacy Practice residency at Nebraska Medicine. She is a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist and completed the ASHP Pharmacy Leadership Academy. Dr. McKenna’s practice responsibilities include developing, implementing and improving safe medication practice throughout the organization. She is the primary manager for University Health’s pharmacy interns. Prior to coming to UH, Dr. McKenna had 19 years of practice developing clinical programs, managing the formulary process and directing a PGY1 pharmacy residency program.
Dr. McKenna’s professional areas of interest include use of technology to advance safe medication use systems, promoting Just Culture and professional development of interns and residents. Dr. McKenna holds active memberships in the Kansas Council of Health-System Pharmacy (KCHP) and ASHP. She is a past president of KCHP, has chaired both the KCHP Practice Advancement Initiative Committee and KCHP Foundation, and has been recognized as a Fellow of KCHP.
Dr. Edin Mehmedovic is the Oncology Clinical Lead Pharmacist at University Health Truman Medical Center. Dr. Mehmedovic earned a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Missouri – Kansas City and completed PGY-1 residency training at Cox Medical Center – Branson. He has achieved the designation of Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist.
Dr. Mehmedovic’s professional areas of interest include colon and lung cancer, extravasation management, and healthcare IT advancement. Dr. Mehmedovic offers a clinical experience rotation for pharmacy students and residents at University Health – Oncology Clinic.
Dr. Paige Melling is a Clinical Lead Pharmacist in Central Pharmacy at University Health. She is one of the preceptors for the staffing learning experience for the PGY1 and PGY2 residency programs. Dr. Melling earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Missouri - Kansas City. She completed her PGY1 residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She achieved the designation of Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist and Board Certified Sterile Compounding Pharmacist.
Dr. Melling's interest areas include central operations and medication safety. Within the institution, Dr. Melling serves as the Investigational Drug Pharmacist and is involved in pharmacy workflow improvement.
Dr. Christy Padilla is the Clinical Lead Pharmacist for Orthopaedic Surgery at University Health Truman Medical Center. She earned a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from The University of Kansas. She has achieved the designation of Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist and Board Certified Geriatric Pharmacist.
Dr. Padilla's professional area of interest is caring for our indigent patient population. She participates in multi-disciplinary daily rounds with the orthopedic care team. She offers clinical experience rotations for pharmacy students and pharmacy residents to develop skills related to the care of orthopedic patients.
Dr. Andrew Smith is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Pharmacy and his practice site is with the cardiology service at University Health Truman Medical Center. He received his doctor of pharmacy degree from UMKC in 2000. He then completed post-graduate training at the VA medical center in Iowa City, IA in 2001. Dr. Smith is a fellow of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (FCCP) and board certified in both cardiology and pharmacotherapy.
Prior to UMKC, Dr. Smith worked as a clinical pharmacist at KU hospital for seven years specializing in cardiology. Dr. Smith has served as a residency preceptor at Truman Medical Center and KU hospital. Dr. Smith has served as president of both the Greater Kansas City and Missouri Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists. He is also an active member of ACCP serving as chair of the Education and Training PRN and secretary of the Cardiology PRN.
Dr. Sayo Weihs is the Clinical Lead Pharmacist in Antimicrobial Stewardship and Infectious Disease at University Health. She earned a Doctor of Pharmacy degree and Master of Business Administration from Drake University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and College of Business and Public Administration. She completed her PGY1 residency training at Truman Medical Center. She has achieved the designation of Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist as well as Board Certified Infectious Disease Pharmacist.
Dr. Weihs’ professional areas of interest include adult infectious disease topics such as treatment of multi-drug resistant organisms and opportunistic infections in patients with HIV/AIDS. She is certified in Antimicrobial Stewardship from the Society of Infectious Disease Pharmacists and has served as treasurer for Missouri Society of Health-System Pharmacist (MSHP) as well as Greater Kansas City Society of Health System Pharmacists (GKCSHP). She is active in multiple committees at UH such as HIV, infection prevention and control, c. difficile hospital acquired conditions, and sepsis task force.
Dr. Kerry Yamada is the Clinical Lead Pharmacist for Family Medicine and Intensive Care as well as one of the Postgraduate Pharmacy Residency Program Coordinators at University Health. Dr. Yamada earned a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Pharmacy and completed her PGY1 residency training at University Health. She achieved the designation of Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist.
Dr. Yamada’s professional areas of interest include the training of future health systems pharmacists, quality improvement of inpatient medication strategies, multidisciplinary education, and employee engagement. She is actively involved in clinical practice, UH's residency programs, and serving as the pharmacy representative for various hospital and intradepartmental committees focusing on direct patient care. Dr. Yamada is involved with UMKC and KU Schools of Pharmacy as well as state pharmacy organizations like Missouri Society of Health System Pharmacists and has severed served as chair for the Resident and New Practitioner Workgroup.
Dr. Sarah Young is the Pain Management Pharmacist at University Health. Dr. Young earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Pharmacy and completed her PGY1 at Truman Medical Center. She is a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist and has completed the ASHP Foundation Traineeship in Pain and Palliative Care.
Dr. Young’s professional areas of interest include pain management, palliative care, internal medicine, and caring for our indigent patient population. She is the co-chair of the UH Corporate Pain Management Committee, is a member of the Palliative Care Team, and is also involved in committees within the pharmacy department. Dr. Young offers a clinical experience rotation for pharmacy students and residents related to pain management and palliative care.
Dr. Scott Zweerink is the Director of Outpatient Pharmacy Services and 340B Program Compliance at University Health. He earned a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Florida. Prior to his employment at University Health, he had 18 years of management and leadership experience in community chain pharmacy practice.
The primary responsibilities for his current position involve oversight of UH outpatient clinic pharmacy operations, ambulatory surgery center pharmacy operations, three UH community pharmacies, and 340B Program compliance and operations. Two of the community pharmacies are dedicated as Medication Assistance Program pharmacies that provide free medications to vulnerable patients. Additionally, he leads an innovative Medication Access and Refill Service program that utilizes collaborative protocols to expedite patient refill requests.
Ambulatory Care Preceptors
Dr. Mary Beth Dameron is a Clinical Lead Pharmacist in Ambulatory Care at University Health. She earned a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy. After graduation, Dr. Dameron completed a PGY-1 community-based pharmacy residency with Balls Food Stores and the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy and a PGY-2 ambulatory care pharmacy residency at Ascension Via Christi. She is a Board Certified Ambulatory Care Pharmacist.
Dr. Dameron practices in neurology. Her focus is to provide ambulatory clinical pharmacy services to assist with the treatment of multiple sclerosis, migraines, refractory epilepsy, and other neurological conditions. She serves on the University Health Specialty Pharmacy Quality and Clinical Committee and is passionate about teaching and training others.
Dr. Frank Fanizza is the Clinical Lead Pharmacist in the infectious diseases clinic at University Health Truman Medical Center. Dr. Fanizza earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy. He then completed a PGY1 community-based residency program with the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy/Balls Food Stores and a PGY2 ambulatory care residency program with The University of Kansas Health System. Dr. Fanizza has achieved the designations of Board Certified Ambulatory Care Pharmacist and HIV Pharmacist.
Dr. Fanizza’s professional areas of interest include infectious diseases/HIV, internal medicine, precepting, and professional organization involvement. He is an active member of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy and the Kansas Council of Health-System Pharmacy.
Dr. Jordan Rowe is an assistant clinical professor with the UMKC School of Pharmacy and practices as a clinic-embedded pharmacist focusing on chronic disease management within the endocrinology and internal medicine clinics at University Health. At her clinic sites, she precepts third- and fourth-year pharmacy students as well as PGY1 UH pharmacy residents. She serves as a volunteer preceptor and faculty advisor to the board at Sojourner, a free, student-run, interprofessional clinic for the uninsured and homeless of Kansas City. She also serves as a member of the UH interprofessional LGBTQ care team. Dr. Rowe received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from UAMS College of Pharmacy in Little Rock, Arkansas. She completed a PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee and a PGY2 Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Specialty Residency at CoxHealth in Springfield, Missouri. She is a Board Certified Ambulatory Care Pharmacist.
Dr. Rowe’s professional areas of interests include sustainable models for integrated ambulatory pharmacy practice, clinical outcomes associated with multidisciplinary approaches to chronic disease management, interprofessional education, and identifying care models to successfully address health disparities. In addition to serving as a preceptor for the pharmacy residency program, she also serves as faculty for the UMKC Endocrinology, Diabetes, & Metabolism Fellowship Program.
Dr. Jen Santee is an Ambulatory Care Clinical Pharmacy Specialist at University Health. Dr. Santee earned a Doctor of Pharmacy degree with high distinction from the University of Iowa and completed PGY 1 residency training in family medicine and community pharmaceutical care at Northeast Iowa Family Practice Center and Greenwood Drug in Waterloo, Iowa.
Dr. Santee is currently a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Missouri – Kansas City (UMKC) in the School of Pharmacy. Her practice site is at University Health Lakewood Medical Center where she is active in the family practice clinic, anticoagulation clinic, dermatology clinic, and pulmonology clinic. She has served on various American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy committees, has been the School of Pharmacy’s curriculum committee chair, received the UMKC Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Diversity, and is currently the faculty advisor for UMKC’s Student National Pharmaceutical Association (SNPhA) chapter.
Dr. Hassaan Shaikh is the Ambulatory Hematology/Oncology Clinical Lead Pharmacist at Richard & Annette Bloch Cancer Center at University Health. Dr. Shaikh earned a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Kansas and completed PGY-1 residency training at Saint Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City in Kansas City, Missouri. His PGY-2 Oncology residency was completed in Iowa City, Iowa at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. During his PGY-2 Oncology Residency, Dr. Shaikh served as an adjunct faculty at the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy and completed the Pharmacy Educators Preparation Program for Residents and Fellows.
Dr. Shaikh’s professional areas of interest include hematologic/oncologic malignancies, cancer genomics, precision oncology, pharmacy research, precepting and academia. Dr. Shaikh specializes in oral chemotherapy, tyrosine kinase inhibitors and anti-hormonal therapy for the treatment of hematologic and oncologic malignancies. His focus is to provide ambulatory clinical pharmacy services to assist with the treatment of hematologic and oncologic malignancies. Dr. Shaikh has achieved certification in Cancer Genomics and Precision Oncology from the Harvard Medical School. He serves on several committees including University Health Specialty Pharmacy Quality and Clinical Committee and the Vizient National Cancer Care Committee. Dr. Shaikh also provides guest lectures at the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy in their oncology coursework.
Dr. Christa Tetuan is a Clinical Lead Pharmacist in Ambulatory Care – Specialty Pharmacy. She graduated from the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy with highest distinction. Her post graduate training was with the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Pharmacy and Red Cross Pharmacy where she completed her PGY1 in Community Pharmacy and at the University of Arizona College of Pharmacy Medication Management Center where she completed her PGY2 in Ambulatory Care. She is a Board Certified Ambulatory Care Pharmacist.
Dr. Tetuan practices in gastroenterology and hepatology. Her focus is to provide ambulatory clinical pharmacy services to assist with the treatment of hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and inflammatory bowel disease. She serves on the University Health Specialty Pharmacy Quality and Clinical Committees. She is passionate about teaching and training others.
Dr. Anne Ungerman is a Clinical Lead Pharmacist in Ambulatory Care – Specialty Pharmacy. She graduated from the University of Iowa School of Pharmacy. Her post graduate training (PGY1) was with the Kansas City Veterans Affairs Medical Center. She is a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist.
Dr. Ungerman practices in rheumatology. Her focus is to provide ambulatory clinical pharmacy services to assist with the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, lupus, uveitis, gout, ankylosing spondylitis, and Raynaud’s syndrome. She serves on the University Health Specialty Pharmacy Quality and Clinical Committees. She is passionate about teaching and training others.
Dr. Kristi Stice is the Ambulatory Specialty Pharmacy Manager at University Health. Dr. Stice earned a BS and Doctor of Pharmacy degree from St. Louis College of Pharmacy and completed her PGY1 Residency with a focus in clinical coordination with Sentara Healthcare in Norfolk, VA. She achieved the designation of Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist and also is a Diplomate of the ASHP Pharmacy Leadership Academy. Prior to her employment at University Health, she had 15 years of clinical management and leadership experience in hospital and health system pharmacy.
The primary responsibilities for her current position involve the oversight of the ambulatory specialty pharmacists and the ambulatory medication assistance coordinators serving the specialty clinics. She is also experienced in 340B. Kristi was historically very active with the Illinois Society of Health System Pharmacists, serving in several leadership roles and being honored as New Practitioner of the Year before moving to Missouri. She currently serves on the Alumni Board for the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis (formerly StLCoP). Dr. Stice loves all things data is actively pursuing a Master’s Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Business Analytics from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
Residency leadership
Dr. Teri Fanizza is one of the Clinical Lead Pharmacists for Internal Medicine Pharmacists at University Health Hospital Hill and also serves as one of the Pharmacy Residency Coordinators. Dr. Fanizza earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of North Carolina Eshelman School of Pharmacy and completed her PGY1 residency training at St. Louis College of Pharmacy and Mercy Hospital in St. Louis. She achieved the designation of Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist.
Dr. Fanizza's professional areas of interest include internal medicine, precepting, and pharmacy practice advancement. Dr. Fanizza has served on multiple committees at TMC including workflow improvement, employee engagement, vancomycin peer review group, and pharmacy residency research oversight committee.
Dr. Abby Hughes is the Clinical Lead Pharmacist in Critical Care at University Health and the Residency Program Director for the PGY2 Critical Care Residency. Dr. Hughes earned a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy and completed her PGY1 residency training at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi. Her PGY2 Critical Care residency was completed in Las Vegas, Nevada at The University Medical Center of Southern Nevada. She has achieved the designation of Board Certified Critical Care Pharmacist.
Dr. Hughes’s professional areas of interest include acute respiratory distress syndrome, sepsis and the education of many different learners including students, pharmacists, and other medical professionals.
Dr. Emily Iglar is the Pharmacy Clinical Manager and PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program Director at University Health - Truman Medical Center. She completed her Doctor of Pharmacy degree at the University of Wisconsin – Madison School of Pharmacy. Dr. Iglar went on to complete her PGY1 pharmacy practice residency at Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin – Froedtert Hospital. She also is a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist.
Dr. Iglar’s professional areas of interest include anticoagulation, transitions of care, and professional development. She is co-chair of the TMC Corporate Pain Management Committee and a member of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.
Dr. Shannon Jones is one of the Clinical Lead Pharmacists in Internal Medicine as well as the longitudinal research preceptor at University Health Truman Medical Center. Dr. Jones earned a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and completed her PGY1 residency training at the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy (formerly known as the St. Louis College of Pharmacy) in collaboration with Mercy Hospital St. Louis. She then completed PGY2 Internal Medicine residency in Salt Lake City, Utah at the University of Utah. She has achieved the designation of Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist.
Dr. Jones’s professional areas of interests include internal medicine, medication safety, professional development, and serving as a preceptor for students and residents. Within the institution, Dr. Jones is an active member of the employee engagement and workflow improvement committees.
Dr. Christa Tetuan is a Clinical Lead Pharmacist in Ambulatory Care – Specialty Pharmacy. She graduated from the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy with highest distinction. Her post graduate training was with the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Pharmacy and Red Cross Pharmacy where she completed her PGY1 in Community Pharmacy and at the University of Arizona College of Pharmacy Medication Management Center where she completed her PGY2 in Ambulatory Care. She is a Board Certified Ambulatory Care Pharmacist.
Dr. Tetuan practices in gastroenterology and hepatology. Her focus is to provide ambulatory clinical pharmacy services to assist with the treatment of hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and inflammatory bowel disease. She serves on the University Health Specialty Pharmacy Quality and Clinical Committees. She is passionate about teaching and training others.
Dr. Hassaan Shaikh is the Ambulatory Hematology/Oncology Clinical Lead Pharmacist at Richard & Annette Bloch Cancer Center at University Health. Dr. Shaikh earned a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Kansas and completed PGY-1 residency training at Saint Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City in Kansas City, Missouri. His PGY-2 Oncology residency was completed in Iowa City, Iowa at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. During his PGY-2 Oncology Residency, Dr. Shaikh served as an adjunct faculty at the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy and completed the Pharmacy Educators Preparation Program for Residents and Fellows.
Dr. Shaikh’s professional areas of interest include hematologic/oncologic malignancies, cancer genomics, precision oncology, pharmacy research, precepting and academia. Dr. Shaikh specializes in oral chemotherapy, tyrosine kinase inhibitors and anti-hormonal therapy for the treatment of hematologic and oncologic malignancies. His focus is to provide ambulatory clinical pharmacy services to assist with the treatment of hematologic and oncologic malignancies. Dr. Shaikh has achieved certification in Cancer Genomics and Precision Oncology from the Harvard Medical School. He serves on several committees including University Health Specialty Pharmacy Quality and Clinical Committee and the Vizient National Cancer Care Committee. Dr. Shaikh also provides guest lectures at the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy in their oncology coursework.
Dr. Kerry Yamada is the Clinical Lead Pharmacist for Internal Medicine as well as one of the Postgraduate Pharmacy Residency Program Coordinators at University Health. Dr. Yamada earned a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Pharmacy and completed her PGY1 residency training at University Health. She achieved the designation of Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist.
Dr. Yamada's professional areas of interest include the training of future health systems pharmacists, quality improvement of inpatient medication strategies, multidisciplinary education, and employee engagement. She is actively involved in clinical practice, TMC’s residency programs, and serving as the pharmacy representative for various hospital and intradepartmental committees focusing on direct patient care. Dr. Yamada is involved with UMKC and KU Schools of Pharmacy as well as state pharmacy organizations (Missouri Society of Health System Pharmacists) serving in roles such as chair for the Resident and New Practitioner Workgroup.
