PGY1 Pharmacy Residency- Ambulatory Care

PGY1 pharmacy residency programs build on Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification, and eligible for postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training.

Postgraduate Year One Pharmacy Residency—Ambulatory Care Program goals

University Health Truman Medical Center offers a PGY1 Pharmacy Residency that gives the opportunity to focus in the ambulatory care setting. The program provides residents with the skills and knowledge required to become competent pharmacy practitioners with advanced skills in the ambulatory care setting. The program is designed to offer a broad range of experiences to develop practitioners who are competent to solve complex medication related problems. Residents completing the program will be prepared to pursue PGY2 residency programs or positions in a wide variety of clinical settings.

Learning experiences

The year will begin with orientation and will be followed by required learning experiences. Over the course of the year, you will complete all the required learning experiences and your choice of electives, which may include repeating a previously completed required learning experience. Rotations are typically four to five weeks in length, but may vary.
