Nutrition and Nourishment

Mobile Market

Healthy Harvest Mobile Market

The Healthy Harvest Mobile Market (HHMM) program was created in response to the alarming number of community members who reside in zip codes that are considered food deserts. The CHSI team works with key stakeholders, i.e., faith-based organizations, schools, community clinics, etc., to ensure that community members understand the important correlation between their quality of health and diet. The HHMM program is also committed to providing nourishment to the community with fresh, high-quality produce supplemented with nutrition education, healthy recipes and infographics. During the COVID-19 Pandemic the HHMM continued to serve the community by delivering enough produce to nourish over 100,000 community members.

FoodFARMacy

In 2022, the CHSI team developed FoodFARMacy, a community-level healthy food initiative. FoodFARMacy aligns with the Food as Medicine intervention model that aims to address community nutritional needs within the context of health care. Through this produce delivery model, families receive culturally specific produce, recipes and nutrition education. Community health workers from the partnering organizations work closely with CHSI staff to encourage program participants to adopt consistent, healthy eating habits.
