Doctoral Psychology Internship Program Overview

University Health Behavioral Health provides doctoral training experiences at our inpatient and outpatient locations throughout Kansas City. This internship program is designed to provide interns with a breadth of training focusing on evidence based assessment and treatment intervention. University Health Behavioral Health’s internship program is a member of the National Psychology Training Consortium which is an APA-accredited program and an APPIC member.

Interns will gain in-depth exposure to both inpatient and outpatient mental health treatment with a combined experience. Interns will engage in a year-long rotation within the inpatient setting. Each intern will initially spend six months in either a child or adult outpatient clinic, switching in the middle of the internship to finish their last six months in the opposite clinic. Interns will attend various trainings throughout the course of the year provided by both University Health Behavioral Health and the National Psychology Training Consortium (NPTC).
