Colonoscopy 2-day Split Prep

Your colonoscopy

What you will need for your PREP:

  • Prescription for Nulytely/Dulcolax
  • Clear liquids
    • Water
    • Tea/coffee (NO cream or milk)
    • Gatorade/Powerade
    • Lemon lime soda
    • Broth (chicken, beef, or vegetable)
    • Jell-O
    • Popsicles
    • Clear juices (apple juice, white grape juice or white cranberry juice)

"If you can see through it… you can drink it"

NO pink, red, purple or blue liquids!
The morning of your procedure
  • Nothing to eat or drink (Including: solid foods, liquids, alcohol, ice, gum, or candy)
  • NO SMOKING
  • MEDICATIONS - At 6 AM please take Inhaler, blood pressure, seizure, and heart medications with a sip of water
  • DO NOT TAKE diuretics or insulin

2 days before procedure:

NO SOLID FOOD!

Breakfast – Start clear liquid diet
(water, tea, coffee, Gatorade, lemon lime soda, broth, Jell-O, popsicle, apple juice, white grape juice or white cranberry juice)

Lunch – Continue clear liquids

Dinner – Continue clear liquids

9 PM – Take 2 Dulcolax tabs (with a glass of water)

NO SOLID FOOD

1 Day before procedure:

NO SOLID FOOD!
Mix Nulytely PREP - with prescribed amount of water and place it in the refrigerator (if you prefer)
Breakfast – Continue clear liquids

Lunch – Continue clear liquids

3-6 PM – Start drinking Nulytely PREP
Drink half of the Nulytely mixture (2 Liters) 8oz glass every 10 min
If you are full, bloated or nauseated stop for 20 minutes, then continue
2-4 AM – Wake up to finish Drinking Nulytely PREP
4 AM – NOTHING TO EAT OR DRINK until after your procedure
YOU MADE IT! WE WILL SEE YOU TOMORROW!
Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled time.

Patients on blood thinners

Blood thinners should be held as prescribed by your doctor.

Talk to your prescribing doctor before stopping or holding any blood thinner.
(Including: Aspirin, Warfarin/Coumadin, Aggrenox, Lovenox, Heparin, Plavix, ticlid, Xarelto, Apixaban, Effient, Argatroban, Pradaxa, Cilastazol)

One of your nurses will be contacting you regarding your blood thinners at least two weeks prior.

NO recreational drugs
10 days prior


NO Iron supplements
5 days prior


NO weight loss meds
2 weeks prior

Please bring with you the day of your procedure:

  • Photo ID
  • Insurance Cards
  • Medications
  • Someone to drive you home and stay with you for 6-24 hours
    (NO cabs, taxis, or Share-A-Fare alone)
