Help to win the bedtime battle
“Kids! It’s time for bed. Electronics off. Brush your teeth.
Put on those PJs and climb into bed.”
If you’re a parent, chances are it does. With school back in session, getting enough sleep becomes even more important for kids. How much sleep they need each night depends on their age:
- Preschoolers: 10–13 hours
- School-age children: 9–12 hours
- Teenagers: 8–10 hours
Joseph Lane Wilson, MD, a family medicine specialist at University Health, recently appeared on FOX4 News to discuss the importance of maintaining a regular sleep schedule. And regular means just that –sticking to a similar bedtime and wake-up time, even on the weekends. Keeping a consistent routine can make a big difference in helping kids get the sleep they need.
Of course, the big question many parents struggle with is: How do you actually get your kids to go to sleep at night?
