Our Mission
At University Health, diversity isn’t aspirational – it’s who we are. It’s reflected in the patients we care for and the colleagues we work alongside every day. We turn that diversity into strength by fostering a culture of belonging. One that is built in the small, everyday moments like how we listen, how we show respect, how we support one another, and how we care for patients. Through these daily actions, we empower our employees to thrive, collaborate, and lead with compassion – ensuring every patient receives culturally responsive, respectful, high-quality care.
Our Leaders
Leaders at University Health aspire to create and sustain a culture where every employee and patient feels seen, respected, and valued. We are committed to modeling inclusive behaviors, actively listening to diverse perspectives, and addressing barriers that impact equity, trust, and belonging for patients and staff.
Our Patients
Valuing the diversity among the patients we serve means having the resources to meet unique patient needs. On-demand medical interpreter and translation services, culturally-competent practitioners, LGBTQ+ affirming services and trauma-informed care approaches set us apart as a hospital committed to providing respectful and individualized care to each person who comes through our doors.
Our Commitment to Community
Recognizing we are stronger together, University Health partners with a wide range of community organizations to leverage their expertise and expand the hospital’s reach. From hosting panel discussions to co-sponsoring events, our partnerships are vital to our mission and give us greater insight into the communities we serve.
University Health Supplier Diversity Program: University Health is committed to working with historically underused businesses as suppliers, such as those owned by minorities, women, veterans, LGBT and service-disabled-veterans.
Our Workforce
Serving diverse communities requires an equally diverse workforce that is able to leverage their unique backgrounds, strengths and perspectives to meet the ever-changing needs of our patients. University Health values the uniqueness in our workforce and aspires to be a place where employees feel the freedom to bring their authentic selves each and every day.
In order to encourage an even greater sense of belonging within the organization, employees are encouraged to get involved with our staff-led Employee Resource Groups (ERGs). These groups are formed around shared identities, backgrounds, and experiences to foster community and leadership development within the organization. Whether an employee identifies as a member of a particular group or an ally, they are encouraged to join.
Currently, University Health has five distinct ERGs:
- Women Empowered at University Health
- Black ERG
- Hispanic ERG
- Veterans ERG
- LGBTQ+ ERG
