Making your health a priority

Yolanda stays busy. The 70-year-old works full-time at Metropolitan Community College in Kansas City. And, as a great-grandmother, she stays active keeping up with her family.

When it comes to her health, Yolanda, like many of us, simply did not make it a priority.

“Everything was much more important than feeding herself,” said Raquel Garcia, RN and Community Health Education Manager.

That has changed thanks to an innovative eight week Healthy Lifestyle Challenge program managed by University Health's Community Health Strategies and Innovation (CHSI) team.

Participants of the eight week challenge learn healthy habits. They also receive a free bag of produce. The CHSI team, along with the UMKC School of Nursing, encourages participants to set realistic goals.

If you are interested in finding out about the next 8 Week Healthy Challenge, reach out to our Community Health Strategies and Innovation team at chsi@uhkc.org.

Watch to see how Yolanda quickly received positive results in just a few weeks.
