Mental Health Awareness Week
Thank the National Alliance on Mental Health for the annual Mental Health Awareness Week. Designated as a week to raise awareness and lower stigmas associated with mental illness, we can all use the designation as a time to strengthen our mental health.
Psychologist Jennifer Keller, PsyD wants the takeaway message to be that mental health is health.
Dr. Keller offered three tips to strengthen your mental wellness:
- Eating healthy, exercising, and getting quality sleep. It’s the way we intend to live… until life gets in the way. Dr. Keller explained that prioritizing our physical wellness support mental health.
- Healthy connections. Avoid isolating and surround yourself with people who support you in living your best life.
- Lean into your values. Question what you value in life and then use that priority to guide your decisions.
