Three simple steps to improve your mental health
Tuesday, October 10 marks World Mental Health Day, an opportunity to promote mental health education, awareness and advocacy against social stigma.
University Health Behavioral Health (UHBH) is the one of the region’s largest and most comprehensive mental health center associated with a medical center. UHBH and its dedicated staff work daily to remove stigma and assist people living with a mental health issue.
UHBH Psychologist Jennifer Keller, PsyD wants the takeaway message to be that caring for your mental health equals good health.
Dr. Keller offers three tips to strengthen your mental wellness:
- Eat healthy food, exercise regularly, and get quality sleep. Dr. Keller explained that prioritizing our physical wellness supports our mental health.
- Prioritize your healthy relationships. Avoid isolating, and surround yourself with people who support you living your best life.
- Lean into your values. Question what you value in life and then use that priority to guide your decisions.
